2022 Emmy Predictions: Lead Actor (Drama Series)

after playing Charles, Prince of Wales on the third and fourth seasons of “The Crown” and winning the 2021 Emmy for Outstanding Dramatic Actor for the latter, Josh O’Connor handed over the role to Dominica West. That means he won’t be able to win a bookend trophy this year, but two former champions – Sterling K. Brown (“It’s us”) and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”) – have this chance. Scroll down to see our 2022 Emmy predictions for Lead Actor (Drama Series).

Brown is the only drama actor nominated in 2021 who could return in 2022. Jonathan Majors (“Lovecraft Country”) and Billy Porter (“Pose”) exited because their shows ended during the last eligibility window, while Rege-Jean Page left the still-running “Bridgerton” and Matthew Rhys“Perry Mason” did not return in time.

Past nominees hoping for another shot at gold are jason batman (“Ozarks”), Brian Cox (“Succession”), Bob Odenkerk (“You better call Saul”), Milo Ventimiglia (“It’s us”), and Sam Waterton (“Law and order”).
