Drama series ‘Narco-Saints’ tops Netflix’s weekly non-English series chart

SEOUL — South Korean thriller TV series “Narco-Saints” tops Netflix’s weekly TV drama series chart. The thriller series tells the story of an ordinary man cooperating with a government agency to arrest a South Korean drug lord operating in Suriname, a country located in the northern region of South America.

The over-the-top (OTT) media service said “Narco-Saints” garnered some 62.6 million viewing hours during the week of September 12-18. This is much more than “Fate: The Winx Saga season 2”, the second most-watched English television series on Netflix with some 48.9 million hours of viewing. Narco-Saints became the most-watched show in many countries, including India, Malaysia, and Singapore.

“Extraordinary Attorney Yoo,” another South Korean TV drama that topped Netflix’s non-English charts for seven consecutive weeks, fell to fourth place with some 21.9 million hours in the third week of September. .

Narco-Saints stars Ha Jung-woo, a versatile actor who appeared in the fantasy blockbuster “Along With the Gods,” and Hwang Jung-min, a veteran actor known to be extremely talented at blending in with different types of characters. Hwang played the lead role in hit movies such as “Ode to My Father” (2014) and “Veteran” (2015).
