First official look at Martin Freeman’s crime drama on the BBC

Marvel star Martin Freeman in sights for first glimpse of new BBC drama series The answering machine.

Freeman physically transforms in Tony Schumacher’s five-part drama, as an emergency response officer grappling with the moral intricacies of his job.

As he tackles shift work, he hires a new partner named Rachel (Adelayo Adedayo), and their relationship will make or break them both personally and professionally.

In addition to a brand new photo of Martin Freeman, the BBC has confirmed the cast will feature dusks MyAnna Buring, Doctor Whois David Bradley, Harry potterit’s Ian Hart, Hollyoaks‘Warren Brown, The English game‘s Kerrie Hayes and more.

“Tony Schumacher’s scripts were so unique and honest that I knew very quickly that I wanted to be a part of The answering machine and take on the role of Chris. No one writes like Tony and it’s exhilarating to inhabit the world he created, ”said Martin Freeman.

Writer Tony Schumacher added, “My fantastic cast when I was writing the character of Chris in The answering machine was Martin Freeman. Seeing this fantasy come true is more than exciting. Martin is one of the great British actors.
