Joel Embiid’s comments on Ben Simmons drama show how volatile the Sixers’ NBA Finals odds are

The Ben Simmons saga may have finally reached a tipping point.

Simmons was kicked out of practice by Doc Rivers on Tuesday for lack of effort and promptly suspended for the opener of the 2021-22 season against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Simmons doesn’t seem to mind if he burns bridges in Philadelphia, but that will make his trade even more difficult. The Sixers lose almost all of their leverage as Simmons becomes a detriment to the team.

Joel Embiid may have compounded the issue by saying he didn’t care about Simmons after his latest outburst.

Yeah, this is going to end very, very badly.

The Sixers are +2000 to win the NBA Finals this season on WynnBET, but you wouldn’t see me approaching those odds.

Philly just isn’t a good enough team without Simmons’ defense and play (let’s not forget he’s an All-Star), and if they can’t get a big comeback for him, then the Sixers will be worse than last year.

As good as Embiid is, he struggles to complete a full season every year and was visibly gassed in last season’s playoffs. Losing Simmons and not finding replacement help (whether it costs less to trade him or Simmons just sitting around) makes the Sixers too volatile to bet ahead of the 2021-22 season.
