Legal fight over Trump’s Mar-A-Lago heats up as courtroom drama pulls away from Florida – Digital World Acq (NASDAQ:DWAC)

What happened: On Monday, Trump’s legal team urged the court-appointed special master, Judge Raymond Cherieto drop a request asking the former president to release details of documents he claims to have declassified before the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided his Florida home, reported Policy.

Another concern raised by Trump’s attorneys relates to Dearie’s request for information regarding any follow-up Fourth Amendment litigation filed by Trump to retrieve documents that should be filed with Bruce Reinhart, the magistrate who authorized the search and recused himself after Trump accused him of “bias animus”.

The lawyers are also asking for a deadline extension, proposed by Dearie, which would see the entire inspection and labeling procedure completed by October 7.

Why is this important: The United States Department of Justice filed an appeal with the United States Courts of Appeals for the 11th Circuit to stay a decision rendered by the Florida District Court judge. Cannon Aileenwhich prevents prosecutors from accessing classified documents recovered from Mar-a-Lago.

The forum will likely be hospitable to Trump and his attorneys, much like Cannon’s courthouse, Politico reported.

The report noted that Cannon never addressed the issue of whether Trump, as president, had in fact declassified documents present in his estate or designated some of them as his personal property.

Dearie’s first comments are expected Tuesday, at a courthouse conference in Brooklyn, New York, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Trump said the Social truth that he had arrived at Mar-a-Lago on Monday evening and had “a detailed chance to verify the scene of another government ‘crime'”.
