On March 18, the Marbletown Elementary School Grade 3 Drama Club performed a performance called “Poetry Performance” in the school gymnasium.
The show was an impressive display of student actors reading a variety of poems while dressed in theme. Audience members enjoyed hearing the students recite several plays written by well-known poets such as Shel Silverstein, Robert Frost, Maya Angelou and EE Cummings.
The students’ articulate performances were appreciated by all, as were their creative costumes. For example, Shel Silverstein’s “Spaghetti” was read by a student actor dressed as a delicious meal, and Jack Prelutsky’s “Be Glad Your Nose Is On Your Face” was performed by a student.
wearing an imaginative nose outfit.
Student performers included Evelyn Stewart, Ayda Padusnak, Haley Jordan, Bentley Osterhoudt, Eliana Murray, Victoria Kyaw, Kayden Miles, Jojo Erwin, Tenley Hilsenbeck, Carter Carr, Caylynn Miles, Aurelia Gatherer, Morgan Bresnahan, Ada Hunter, Aidan O’Keefe . , Neva Anderson, Yesenia Rios, Asher Balconis, Mirabai Gould, Avery Bissell, Mason Green, Camilla Guerrero, Arianna Astuto, Michael Schatzel, Ashleigh Stupple, Heidi McLoughlin and Elizabeth Hoornbeck. The show was directed by Domenica Murray, one of the Vice Presidents of the Marbletown PTA, and the team of skilled costumers was made up of volunteers from the school community.
Marbletown Elementary School principal Andrew Davenport said in a press release, “Theatre is important to our students, and it’s great to bring that energy back into the building, after a two-year hiatus caused by the pandemic. The students did a great job as did our dedicated PTA members who made this a great experience for our school. »
