Modern Family star Ed O’Neill in LA Clippers drama series

Actor Ed O’Neill is officially added to direct FX’s upcoming drama series based on the Los Angeles Clippers, The Sterling Affairs.

modern family star Ed O’Neill is officially aboard the upcoming FX sports drama limited series, The Sterling Business. The six-episode drama series is based on a 30 for 30 podcast of the same name. It will dive behind the scenes of the Los Angeles Clippers’ 2014 championship bid with a particular focus on the downfall of Clippers owner Donald Sterling after his notorious racist behavior finally came to public notice with the release of a… ‘a recorded conversation between the Owner of Clippers and his mistress, V. Stiviano. It was previously announced that Laurence Fishburne would take on the role of famous former Clippers coach Doc Rivers with actress Jacki Weaver playing Sterling’s wife, Shelly Sterling.

It has now been announced via Deadline that O’Neill would take on the role of former Clippers owner and notorious hate-monger Sterling in the upcoming FX limited series, The Sterling Business. The upcoming drama series will mark the actor’s first TV performance after modern family comes to an end in 2020.

Ramona Shelburne, who was a journalist and host of 30 for 30 Podcast, The Sterling Business, will serve as executive producer on the upcoming six-episode series written by Gina Welch. Following the success of HBO’s controversial sports drama series Buying Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty, it’s no surprise that other prominent periods in NBA franchise history are highlighted and distributed in such a way that more than sports fans can learn about these controversies. With no release date currently in sight, The Sterling Business is already gearing up to be an informative sports drama series that fans won’t want to miss.
