Pelicans Troll Lakers on Twitter amid LeBron-Westbrook drama

The Pelicans couldn’t help but shoot.

The New Orleans Pelicans Twitter page fanned the embers of the rivalry on Thursday, firing at the Los Angeles Lakers and the lack of chemistry between Lakers stars LeBron James and Russell Westbrook

The Pelicans and Lakers have a history. The Lakers traded a treasure trove of players and picks to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis in 2019. The investment ultimately paid off, as Davis and James led the Lakers to an NBA championship win in 2020 during the infamous famous “Bubble Season”.
Since their success in the bubble, Davis and the Lakers have failed to live up to rising expectations. Los Angeles finished last season missing the playoffs, in part due to season-ending losses to New Orleans.

The Twitter jab comes on the heels of James and Westbrook sitting at opposite ends of the arena from each other as they both attended one of the Lakers’ Summer League games. The two came out to show their support for their Summer League teammates, but the choice to sit as far apart as possible was obvious, much to the dismay of Lakers fans.

It wouldn’t be the first time the Lakers have been embroiled in a disagreement between star players. Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant had a beef that cost them the chance to create the same level of dynasty as Micheal Jordan’s Chicago Bulls did in the 90s.

For Lakers fans, they hope their stars can come together and revive a stagnant NBA dynasty.
