“I am a good person!” It’s been Alyssa’s refrain all along Married at first sight Season 14 as she struggled in her marriage to Chris. The animal shelter owner didn’t click with her new hubby and insisted the show’s pundits wronged her. But the disappointed Boston bride has frustrated Chris – and alienated viewers – with her refusal to interact with him or explain why she finds him so objectionable. Now, another famous reality star is stepping into the Alyssa-Chris drama.
‘Jersey Shore’ star references drunken arrest, reminds everyone she’s a ‘good person’ too
Alyssa’s repeated insistence that she’s a good person didn’t go unnoticed Married at first sight fans, many of whom think the exact opposite. He also struck a chord with JCote d’Ersey star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, another reality TV star who said she was a “good person.”
Polizzi commented on a video shared by the Married at first sight instagram account on February 10. In the clip, Chris and Alyssa have a heated discussion with the show’s producers about whether she’s there for the “right reasons.”
“I’m a really fucking good person,” she said. “And I came here with the right intentions.”
“‘I AM A GOOD PERSON!’ – get me arrested on the beach,” Polizzi commented, referring to an infamous incident of jerseyshore where her drunken antics finally caught up with her.
After drinking all day — including during her shift at the t-shirt shop — Polizzi strolled down the boardwalk in search of the beach. As Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Deena Cortese tried to subdue their exhausted friend, the police approached. After Polizzi spoke to officers, she was arrested, prompting her to declare that she was “a fucking good person” as she was taken to jail.
Polizzi’s reference to his own bad on-screen behavior had a lot of Married at first sight the fans laugh.
“That’s LITERALLY all I could think of when she said that,” one replied.
‘Married At First Sight’ Fans Call Out Experts On Alyssa’s Casting
Joking aside Polizzi, a lot Married at first sight viewers are fed up with Alyssa. So far, she has staunchly refused to commit to the show’s process of being married to a stranger for eight weeks. Commenters on social media wonder why she went on the show in the first place if she hadn’t pledged to give her marriage a fair chance. Married at First Sight Afterparty host Keshia Knight Pulliam asked Alyssa the same question when she appeared on the show. But Alyssa refused to answer, preferring to leave the set.
Fans also criticized the show’s pundits and producers. They wonder how Alyssa passed the supposedly rigorous selection process. They were also worried about Chris, whom they felt was being abused.
“The credibility of the experts in great danger with her on the show!” one commented.
“Shame on MAFS for allowing Chris to be humiliated on national TV,” another wrote. “Alyssa should have been sent home!!”
Others wondered if the Lifetime reality series was scripted and Alyssa was cast for drama and ratings.
“She’s despicable and there’s absolutely no way the pundits didn’t see her narcissism before casting her,” one person said. “This has [to] being more on the notes, it’s about matching Chris with someone worthy.
Will Alyssa and Chris move in together?
The February 16 episode of Married at first sight will see the couples return from their Puerto Rican honeymoon and settle into their new apartments in Boston. But right now, it looks like Alyssa and Chris won’t be taking the next step in their relationship.
So far, Alyssa has refused to consider cohabiting with Chris, saying she doesn’t feel comfortable sharing the same space with him. She proposed that they essentially share custody of the apartment, each living there – separately – for a few weeks. This idea was rejected by the Married at first sight producers. It didn’t sit well with Chris either. He says he just wants Alyssa to admit that she’s not committed to the process or their marriage.
“I would like her to say how she really feels,” he said after another tense conversation on the show’s Feb. 9 episode. “And take the consequences of those feelings and opinions.”
New episodes of Married at first sight Season 14 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
