‘Squid Game’ nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at EmmysNews

South Korean Netflix series “Squid Game” has garnered 14 nominations for the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards.
The fan-favorite becomes the first South Korean TV show to compete for the top honor in the American broadcasting industry.

It’s certainly a green light for the South Korean Netflix series ‘Squid Game’ as it has garnered 14 nominations at the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards.
With this, the thrilling drama becomes the first South Korean drama to be nominated for the highest honor in the American audiovisual industry.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on Tuesday unveiled its full list of nominations for the 2022 Emmys, awarded to the best primetime television programs from June 1, 2021 through May 31, 2022.
Among the many nominations, ‘Squid Game’ star Lee Jung-jae is looking to win Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series, with Jung Ho-yeon being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. .
Oh Yeong-su and Park Hae-soo are up for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, while ‘Squid Game’ director Hwang Dong-hyuk is looking to take home the award for directing and acting. Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
“Squid Game” is not only the first South Korean show to be included in the final list of nominees, but it’s also the first non-English language series to vie for TV’s top honor at the Primetime Emmys.
‘Squid Game’ will compete with some of the most popular drama series of the past year, .. grappling with ‘Better Call Saul’,
“Euphoria”, “Ozark”, “Severance”, “Stranger Things”, “Succession” and “Yellow Vests”.
Other Emmy nominations include Lee You-mi, for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, Outstanding Cinematography for a Single-Camera Series, Outstanding Main Title-Themed Original Score, and Outstanding Production Design for a contemporary narrative program.
And unlike “Squid Game,” fans are hoping there will be more than one winner at the awards show on September 12.
