Trigger Point I Cast release date and news of Vicky McClure’s drama

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure takes center stage as a former military bomb disposal operative (otherwise known as “Expo”) in ITV’s upcoming drama Trigger Point.

The six-part series will follow demining officer named Lana Washington as she struggles on the brink of crisis after years on the front lines.

The drama is produced by Line of Duty mastermind Jed Mercurio, HTM Television and promises to give viewers a glimpse into the counterterrorism police and “officers who risk their lives daily on the ‘long march’ to danger,” according to the synopsis.

But McClure recently revealed that her character in the upcoming thriller is actually a world away from her role as Kate Fleming in Line of Duty.

“I can’t worry about taking on roles that might seem in a similar world or in a similar vein [to Line of Duty],” she said HELLO!. “I look at Lana and Kate and I don’t see them together as the same people at all. They are both very strong women. Very courageous and committed. But that’s the kind of role I like to play.

She added that while she “might not be playing a cop… people love Line of Duty, so if there are any comparisons it might not be a bad thing!”

Meanwhile, speaking at a press conference attended by, Mercurio also highlighted the differences of the new drama: “We are very proud of our collaboration on Course of action, and obviously delighted with how this series has connected with such a large audience. But I think the public will realize that this is a very different job.

He continued, “You know, it’s good if people come [Trigger Point] because they love Line of Duty’s Vicky, and they want to see her in that particular role. So it would be nice if it paid more attention to the series.

Trigger Point release date


While an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, it is known that Trigger Point will premiere on ITV in 2022.

As the summer of 2021 saw the start of filming for the series, Line of Duty actress Vicky McClure took to Twitter to announce the “explosive start” and post first-look footage.

“I can’t wait to reveal more as I go… we have an incredible cast !! And the team are making absolute gold,” McClure captioned the pictures.

Jed Mercurio also shared a take a look behind the scenes on the upcoming drama, adding that he was “excited” to reunite with “national treasure” and Line of Duty star McClure.

Throwing trigger points

Other key cast members will include Mark Stanley (who plays Henry VIII in Anne Boleyn) as DI Thom Youngblood, Warren brown (Luther) as Karl Maguire, and Kerry Godliman (After Life) as Sonya Reeves.

To complete the cast are Cal MacAninch (Des) as Lee Robins SCO19, Manjinder Virk (Midsomer Murders) as Samira Desai SO15, and Ralph ineson (The Capture) as Commander Bregman.

ITV premiered the series’ first trailer on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

The explosive streak reveal came after the airing of An Audience with Adele and the premiere of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! 2021.
