Streaming platform Viu has announced a new Thai coming-of-age drama series, TO WANTfeaturing rapper Sunny Day from Thai hip-hop group Thaitanium.
TO WANT – which has yet to receive a release date – is directed by award-winning actor Chanon Santinatornkul. He plays Puen, a rising young rapper who goes by the name of Be Gun, and his group of friends as they navigate life, relationships, and musicality. Thaitanium rapper Sunny Day — aka Nay Mayo “Day” Thot — will be a guest.

TO WANT is just one of more than 30 new original Asian productions that Viu has lined up for the year, he announced in a press release on January 25. Viu’s 2022 list also includes a Malaysian sci-fi comedy titled AI5YAwith comedians Afdlin Shauk and Zizan Razak, and the Malaysian fantasy romantic comedy, Seribu Nina.
Other titles include new seasons of returning shows like the one from Thailand Close friend and Indonesia Assalamualaikum my future husband. Citing a “demand for Thai dramas,” Viu also announced new productions like the Thai romance drama find the rainbowromantic comedy My trainerThriller in French Remember 15 and series of action Right wrong.
Viu will also release a series of Chinese and South Korean dramas this year, including From now on, Showtime! with Park Hae-jin (foreign doctor) and Jin Ki-joo (The secret life of my secretary).
Earlier this month, Netflix announced that it plans to release more than 20 original Korean dramas and movies throughout the year, ranging from dramas, variety shows, and movies. Among these is the highly anticipated zombie apocalyptic series we are all dead January 28 and Money Heist: Korea – Common Economic Space.
