In the game against the Punjab Kings, David Warner fired an unbeaten 60 to lead the Covid-hit Delhi Capitals to a resounding nine-wicket victory over PBKS in the 2022 Indian Premier League here at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. With the hit, Warner recorded his third consecutive half-century and his 53rd in the tournament. He hit 10 fours and a six in his 30-ball shot. The left-handed hitter also surpassed 1,000 points against the Punjab Kings and is only the second player in IPL history to do so against a single team.

The fly-half said he was grateful to get out of their hotel room and play the game.

“I think the bowlers did a fantastic job and made it easy for us. We had to double down on the power play during the chase. It was a different surface compared to last night, but credit to our bowlers. I was grateful to have been able to come out of our rooms and play tonight,” said David Warner in a post-game presentation.

Warner was in an opening stalemate of 83 runs in just 6.3 overs with fly-half Prithvi Shaw. After another spectacular performance with the bat, the fly-half said his daughters wondered why he couldn’t get hundreds like Jos Buttler who is the orange cap holder this season and has already smashed two centuries for his team Rajasthan Royals.

“I was just trying to be positive and I’m happy to have played with Shaw. My kids just want to know why I can’t have a hundred like Jos (Buttler) does. It’s great that little ones around the world are still watching this game.” he added.

In the match against, the bowlers played a key role for the Delhi Capitals in knocking out the Punjab Kings for 115 and their batters also contributed heavily, chasing the target for 11 overs in the IPL match at Brabourne Stadium here on Wednesday.

Punjab King’s 115 is the lowest tally of any team so far in the current 2022 Indian Premier League. The total was chased by DC with 57 balls to spare as the team increased their NRR (Net Run Rate). The Capitals never looked in trouble throughout the game as they handed a heavy nine-wicket defeat to the Punjab Kings.
